S.A. Mail Order Business Division

Profile

After joining Kansai TV HAZZ, I was initially assigned to the Creative Business Division, and from 2020 I was transferred to the Mail Order Business Division and joined the team behind the “Mayonaka Ichiba” program. Kansai TV HAZZ is a company that allows each of its employees to give new things a go and take on new challenges every day with the help of friendly advice from senior staff.

Question 01 Please tell us about the work
that you are in charge of.

"As a buyer (sales representative) that belongs to the Mail Order Business Division, I am mainly involved in the production of “Mayonaka Ichiba.” I discover new clients using the Internet and so on as a source of information and negotiate the selling of products on the show by email or telephone. I put forward the products I discover at the weekly buyers' meeting, and 11 buyers, including the producer, then decide which products to showcase on the show. Once the products are decided, we consider ways in which we can maximize the appeal of the products. It is also an important task to check whether expressions are based on the Law for Preventing Unjustifiable Extra or Unexpected Benefit and Misleading Representation and whether it violates compliance (broadcasting rules). I get ready for the studio recording by creating pre-recorded video footage while at the same time asking numerous questions to my senior colleagues and getting corrections and advice."

Question 02 When do you feel a sense of purpose in your job?

"I have showcased only one product on “Mayonaka Ichiba” to date, and so I'm currently studying how to communicate the appeal of products and how it can lead to sales. On “Mayonaka Ichiba,” the honest reactions of the two members of the comedy duo High Heels greatly influence the sales of products. It is important to be able to make a presentation so that others can get a sense of what makes the product great in a short space of time.I am very happy when the demonstrator makes a script by me informing them of the product features and selling points and when I am able to achieve the sales target with video footage that I considered how it should be produced."

Question 03 What made you choose HAZZ?

When I was sat down in my hometown of Kansai and thinking of where I wanted to work, I learned about HAZZ when a family member recommended the company saying that “someone I know works there and is very reliable, and the company itself has a mission and is well-grounded.” When I actually met the person in question, I decided to join HAZZ after seeing him happily talking about his job and the company. Even though I had no experience, I was attracted by the idea of being involved in events and working on the set of TV programs.

Question 04 What is the atmosphere like at your workplace?

It’s the kind of atmosphere where everyone can talk openly with each other. Immediately after joining Kansai TV HAZZ and immediately after moving to my current department, a senior member of staff in charge of training looked after me, but they said that “You can ask anyone and they will teach you, and you will learn more from working with lots of different people,” and so I now ask questions and seek advice from various different senior members of staff. As the office has adopted a system where you can sit where you like, there is no sense of divide between departments, and it is an environment where it is easy to talk to anyone.

Question 05 What are your future goals?

"We are planning on making HAZZ original masks from the desire to contribute to society during the Covid-19 pandemic. I met representatives from a company that makes masks that are soft on the skin, and as the company is also actively trying to achieve SDGs like HAZZ, I proposed the idea that we join forces. These masks are set to be novelty goods we give to clients, gifts for viewers, and donations to various places. We also hope that we can provide some support by having people with disabilities help in the process of making the masks. I gave an in-house presentation the other day, and I got a great reaction. The president said to me directly, “Great job!” I'm having a lot of fun working here. I really want to succeed here."

A Typical Day

Arrive at work
I start my day by checking my emails. I work from home except for when I am involved in recording the program every other Wednesday and one day a week working at the office.
Work and meetings
Work is different depending on the day of the week, but I will typically check subtitles for pre-recorded video footage, draw up sales report emails, and present products at weekly buyer meetings.
Lunch
I sometimes get invited to lunch by senior staff or my supervisors.
Preparation for recording the TV program
I check the script with the clients I am responsible for and contact stakeholders as a member of the team behind the program.
Business negotiations
I find new clients myself and reach out to them on a daily basis.
Finish work
On days where I work from home, I eat dinner soon after work and finish off household chores in good time.
Hobbies
I enjoy relaxing while watching TV dramas.
Bedtime
I get off to sleep ridiculously easily.

How you spend
your days off

I’m the kind of person who likes to do things indoors. I spend a lot of time sleeping or watching Korean dramas while doing yoga or stretching at home. When it’s possible to travel again, I would like to visit places to try delicious food and sake from all over Japan on my annual family trip!
