N.H. Person in charge of the Hz brand, Business Management Division, Business Management Center

Profile

I am in charge of HAZZ's original hair care brand. In my previous job, I worked in sales and as a career advisor at a recruitment agency, but at HAZZ, it was the first time I took on the challenge of planning and marketing for cosmetic products. I learned basic knowledge at training and so forth and I am pushing myself with new experiences every day. After joining HAZZ, I acquired a qualification as a hair adviser as I thought it would be useful in promoting the brand.

Question 01 Please tell us about the work
that you are in charge of.

I am in charge of increasing sales of our original cosmetics “Hz Straight Repair Series,” which I work on from product planning right through to sales and promotion. I carry out various promotion measures from offline to online, such as advertising in newspapers and magazines, sending out email newsletters using marketing automation tools, and digital promotion for operating online advertisements. I also hold off-site meetings with people who monitor our products, but recently it's difficult to meet people in person, so right now we're thinking about using online and social media.

Question 02 When do you feel a sense of purpose in your job?

I get a real sense of accomplishment when sales increase due to promotion efforts or when the response from customers is good. The most rewarding part is doing face-to-face interviews with customers. As the “Hz Straight Repair Series” is mainly sold online, I do not usually have the opportunity to meet with customers who are the end users of our products. That’s why we have set up a place to invite customers who use our products and they can share their honest impressions with us. The moments I feel the significance of my job is when I get positive feedback such as “It’s easier to fix my hair in the morning” and “It’s tamed the frizziness of my hair, making it look better,” as well as opinions that lead to product improvements.

Question 03 What made you choose HAZZ?

I had no experience but I was interested in being involved in product planning and marketing and so applied to do this job. At the time of the interview, my current boss spent a whole two hours talking to me about the time when he created the original brand and the difficulties he faced in terms of product development. Overwhelmed by his passion towards the brand, I decided to join HAZZ because I wanted to work with this person. I thought that working with someone with such enthusiasm would surely see me take further strides in my own career. When joining the company, my boss taught me the ropes along with actually doing things myself. I am now being trusted with more and more tasks, and so the job is great fun and I can’t get enough of it.

Question 04 What is the atmosphere like at your workplace?

It's cheerful and lively. Everyone talks to each other in a friendly way, and so it’s a great atmosphere. It’s a workplace with an atmosphere that doesn’t place an emphasis on hierarchy where you can properly communicate what you want to regardless of your position. I basically work from home now, but online meetings are smooth because we have a strong sense of togetherness as a team. It's easy to take a vacation, and I'm grateful that my boss tells me to take proper holidays.

Question 05 What are your future goals?

In order for our brand to reach many customers who are suffering from frizzy and unruly hair, we would like to actively take on new challenges that go beyond the measures we are currently taking. Currently, I am engaged in product development to create a new brand, and we have already carried out several trials. Although it may take some time because we cannot compromise on what we want, we are enthusiastic about growing our existing brand and launching new brands that utilize marketing from a zero-base approach.

I like to visit cafes and take pictures with an SLR camera in beautiful places. I also love traveling, and I would like to go trekking around Yakushima the next time I can set off somewhere. Recently, I've been watching the material and channels of my favorite comedians on YouTube, as well as actually going to comedy venues.
